TAS : Advance Magazine Stats Discussion - March 1998

I saw something today that gave me quite a laugh. Used to be in the old days,
back before the Net, Advance! (the mag put out by AOLA) had lots and lots of
completions and had to list them all in pretty small print (like 12pt or so).

This month's Advance! mag list about _5_ OT 5 completions. In all, there were
perhaps 25 people who had finished a major course or auditing action in the
last month. And the type was in huge print, about 20pt.

Yes, Scientology is expanding. I wonder how many members inside have noticed
the same declining stats that I have. And yes, The Auditor (put out by ASHO)
does not list the number of Clears anymore. When I last saw the figure, it was
something around 50,000.

I have noticed this too! Sometimes the same person is listed as having
completed the *same* service in two consecutive months' issues.

True. This is a very good guage showing that in fact the orgs are
   struggling.

Another thing worth mentioning is that ASHO Foundation no longer
   publishes Cause Magazine.

Recently departed SO staff have informed me that ASHO has no CF
Officer. Nor does it have a Director of Promotion. Since the PDO
puts together the promo pieces, I guess they figure that an Advanced
org Dir Promo isn't needed. >EX-CMO

Same thing in the Dutch Org's magazine. It lists all
completed courses, and in the past few months I saw quite a
few instances of the same name reappearing as a 'new'
completion, even though this completion had already been
printed in a previous issue.

It would seem CoS will do anything to keep those stats up
- albeit cosmetically.

Yeah; it reminds me of a Scieno I knew named Steve Ambrose. He had an
act called "Make Steve Look Good!"

CF? PDO? What do these stand for?

Any other relevant acronyms concerning publications to look out for?

CF is Central Files. The CF Off is responsible for maintaining the
files
of all letters to and from public since the org opened. He also used to
provide the list of addresses the org magazine was sent to, but by now
that has probably been computerized.

Incidentally, when I was in the S. O., the ASHO CF Off was a friend of
mine. He liked the job because it was one of the few where you could
control your stats. The stat is 'particles filed', and every week he
would file exactly one more than the week before, so he was always in
normal. He never ran out of stuff to file because there was a backlog
of months of letters sitting around unfiled that he never even tried to
clean up. But Ethics left him alone, in spite of the fact that he
wasn't
even trying to really get his job done, becasue his stat was up every
week.

PDO is Planetary Dissemination Org, an org whose purpose is to create
and run large-scale promotions and surveys.

Which shows just how ineffective Hubbard's management tech is. Someone
who's failing at their job, yet they are 'successful' because the stats
are always going up.

That was the same number that they were giving 10 years ago.....expanding and
expanding so the saying goes....

Auditor 260, which was issued in June 1996, gave the number of Clears
as 49880. The growth rate between 1993 and 1996 was approximately between
600 and 650 Clears per year. Therefore, there should be at most 52000
Clears by now.

I have numbers for #265 to the latest #271.
Only 66 new clears from #265 - #271. About 56.5 per year
at that rate. About 884 years to make that next 50,000
clears. If you have any earlier Auditors than #265,
give me numbers of new Clears. Apparently between # 260 and #265,
they stopped giving acculuative numbers for Clears. It was just
too grimly downstat.
Since one must be Scientological Clear to do OT, this is a
pretty important number, which of course, is why they list it, or did.

If you do have earlier issues than #265, check for duplicate names. I
noticed of 26 names lited in #269, 16 were listed earlier in #267.
#269 has a total of 26 names, but 16 were to be found in #267,
apparently they are padding the lsist in hopes nobody will notice.

#268 and #266 apparently don't list Clears, but I do not have these
issues and am relying on others who do.
